With Coronavirus cases nearing 100,000 daily, deaths averaging a thousand a day, 225,000 dead and thousands more dying, an unmasked Donald Trump is bringing good news to his fanatical followers at his many rallies in which the large crowds won't wear masks or maintain social distancing: The COVID pandemic will come to an end November 4th.
It is a Democratic hoax to defeat him he preaches. The day after the presidential election the media will refuse to report that 100,000 Americans perished the previous day because the invincible president has been toppled. His people believe him. Trump has said that the scientists are "idiots" compared to the self-proclaimed genius. He asserts that he has "brainpower" that defies logical explanations.
Trump's opinion of himself has never been shared by the majority of Americans. How large those numbers have swelled will be determined on November 3rd. But to the disciples of this deranged prophet, the crazier he talks, the saner he sounds.
He is a mad prophet. His is like a cynical Moses who leads his blind mice across the Red Seat, but once he reaches the other side, the water washes over his zealots and they're nothing more than martyrs to his egotistical cause. He continues on his journey to the Promised Land--Let's Make America Great Again--collecting another army of militants, but in his confusion he leads them in circles for decades in the Sinai Desert.
From where does Trump's defiance of common sense arise when the consequences can be death? COVID is spiking throughout the world, the United States the worst, as Trump fails to assume his role as a general and lead an united army against this unsparing foe.
While our troops fall by the thousands, he ignores the enemy that is on a crusade to destroy humanity. As the enemy grows stronger and stronger, Trump advises his followers to go about their normal business as if bombs and bullets weren't falling upon them.
"Why are we bleeding?" the millions bawl as they observe the corpses piling higher and higher around them.
"They're scratches," jeers Trump. "Nobody dies from a scratch. I was scratched and I've never been stronger."
But we've been chasing our tails for four years now, so nothing he says or does should shock us. When he said "It is what it is" as he responded to the growing numbers of dead, he is what he is. There is no curing a rabid dog. There is no reasoning with a roaring lion. There is no placating a cobra. Trump is a ravenous animal and only we can put him out of his political agony.
With the election down to nine days until Judgment Day, Joe Biden's prospects remain high, but when you have been burned once, you know better than to place your hand on a burning cross.
Trump vanquished Hillary Clinton who was a prohibitive favorite with the polls favoring her by large margins. Every Democrat is paranoid that it could happen again. A Trump triumph would be so traumatic for some Democrats that they would seriously contemplate suicide if Coronavirus hadn't killed them already. For the rest of the party, they would not be able to sleep for at least four years because they couldn't live with the nightmare.
