As the COVID death toll nears 170,000 and the cases exceed 5,300,000, we can only hope the price that we have paid and are paying that the pandemic will be the demise of Trump's political career.
Joe Biden announced that California Senator Kamela Harris would join his team as vice president. She was the best choice. The Democrats need a huge African-American turnout and Harris electrifies this faction. She has crossover appeal to every voting block with her charisma and intelligence. The Republican Party is shitting in their boots. They know that if Harris' left won't get you, Biden's right will. The president, in his bullying fashion, called Harris "phony" and "nasty" and then turned to his servile surrogates to characterize her as radical, socialistic, transactional (These goons call her an existential threat as part of their narrative, but if you asked these ignoramuses the definition of transactional, existential and narrative, they would respond with their usual blank faces) as well as a tool of Wall Street, a puppet of China and a globalist. Whatever any of that shit means when millions of Americans are either sick or broke or both.
It's the 2016 playbook that worked against Hillary, but it's a new season and old tactics will not carry the day. Trump and his toadies will soon have to answer for 200,000 deaths, 7,000,000 COVID cases, massive unemployment, a plummeting economy and social unrest that he has aggravated rather than mollified with his odious rhetoric and militaristic ordering of armed Americans to quell fellow American protestors.
"Stick and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me" the saying goes. Trump and his thugs can call Biden, Harris and the rest of the Democrats every name in the book, but the sticks and stones they have brandished on innumerable occasions have perforated the electorate's eardrums and in the latter's painful state they are not listening to Trump's empty words.
Will Biden tell Trump that he has the blood of thousands of Americans on his hands? Will Harris tell Pence that he has the blood of thousands of Americans on his hands? The Democrats need to attack and attack and attack; nobody pities Trump and Pence and then pivot with their vision for America's future.
To the beat of the old Buck Owens' classic, they need to act naturally. They are both handsome individuals, they have winning smiles, they possess great senses of humor and they need to return Trump and Pence's accusations and denunciations with condescending chuckles communicating that the time has come to end America's perception as the laughingstock of the world. We need a new king and queen to rid us of the court jester Trump who was funny when he played the fool, but his interpretation of comedy has been a tragedy for our nation.
