I was going through the archives at The Murphy Report when I came across this opinion piece I wrote on December 3, 2016. My opinion of Donald Trump wasn't the same as it is today. With Coronavirus reigning, he is from my perspective the worst president in the history of the United States and his shamelessness is etched in granite that will be his legacy forever. He is nothing less than a malignant tumor and it's possible four more years of this metastasizing cancer could prove fatal to our country.
When he took office, I wasn't anti-Trump. I thought his New York City upbringing would endow him with a rational approach to government that pulled from both the Democrats and Republicans. I perceived him as a businessman whose social platform would be a live-and-let-live mentality since he was hardly a paragon of virtue himself. I believed he could deliver an even-keel approach to the various issues that would ineluctably arise.
Tragically, he has failed time and time again and he has proved by his actions and decisions that he is incapable of success. He has irrevocably disappointed the person who penned the following article, but it's not like I didn't give him a chance. Pens a Christian soldier before he joined the crusade of toppling Satan from his demonic throne:
"The majority of Americans voted for Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump won because our politicians have failed us at all three levels: Washington D.C., Austin & Brownsville.
"My hope is that Trump is blessed with common sense and seeks practical solutions. If he wants to be successful, he steers clear of the social controversies, improves the economy and proceeds cautiously internationally.
"We don't want a macho who spews that he is going to make America great again. That's bullshit. We don't need an egomaniac who conceives of himself as a hero.
"Unlike my fellow Democrats, I am not depressed. The most corrupt Democrats reside in Cameron County and I have no confidence in them.
"I have not lost hope with Trump's ascension. I have faith in our system. I love my fellow Americans. With hope, faith and love strong in me, I greet the future optimistically. Do I have any other choice?
"Come January it will be President Donald Trump. In the name of all my brothers and sisters who put our country first, I wish him luck."
